We scan the publicly facing DNS records for the provided domain. That means that all hosts detected by the Upfort vulnerability scan are connected to your network, as they need to be present on the domain's DNS record to be present in the report.
If you're using a hosting provider on a shared server, it's not uncommon for multiple, unrelated hosts on the same server to share the same IP address. If this is the case, searching for the webpage by pasting the IP address may return an unrelated host, which can lead users to believe that the IP detection is incorrect, but as above, we are detecting all hosts from the Insured's DNS record.
If you're account was set up by an Insurance Broker, they will have submitted your domain to be scanned, which you can see at the top of your report.
If this is incorrect, you can update it in the Monitored Assets section of the Upfort Shield Admin Portal here.
Our Customer Support team will also be happy to help you with this if you haven't set up your Upfort Admin Portal.
